ReplyDeleteRead your entertaining account in the SOC newsletter. Sorry you didn't manage the full circuit but you did get the full experience by the sounds of it! Interesting that you comment on our attitude here at home to hospitality. We had a similar experience with helpful friendly folk who often went more than the extra mile when we were cycling across Europe, but almost only in sparsely populated areas. It seems that living in a remote area makes people more willing to help travellers out...they know that they are the only back-up services! But we can all learn from this. Next time a see a kayaker bobbing past my front door I will think again about letting them pass by!
